Softball Recap: Philipsburg-Osceola Takes a Loss

Philipsburg-Osceola might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Bald Eagle Area who claimed the real prize. The Mountaineers lost 13-3 to the Eagles. The Mountaineers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Emily Gustkey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Morgan Vaughn was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Philipsburg-Osceola's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Bald Eagle Area, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philipsburg-Osceola will venture away from home to take on Punxsutawney at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bald Eagle Area, they will head out to square off against Bellwood-Antis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
