St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute picks up sixth straight win at home

Recap: St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders vs. The Park School of Buffalo Pioneers

The St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 71-60 victory over The Park School of Buffalo. Given St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while The Park School of Buffalo is ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gionni Zelasko out in front who scored 13 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Zelasko continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jay?meir Goosby, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jarrell Green, who scored 14 points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Green posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Willy Kibowa Jr, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for The Park School of Buffalo, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute will head out on the road to square off against The Park School of Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
