Baseball Recap: Akron Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Akron ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Oakfield-Alabama Hornets. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 8-2 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Anthony Consiglio and Collin Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Consiglio went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Miller went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Miller is becoming a predictor of Akron's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

The win got Akron back to even at 5-5. As for Oakfield-Alabama, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Akron will venture away from home to face off against Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oakfield-Alabama, they will welcome Webber at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
