Baseball Game Preview: Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs vs. Nevada Cubs

The Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Nevada Cubs at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Prairie City-Monroe has three straight wins, Nevada has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Prairie City-Monroe got the win against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont by a conclusive 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Nevada didn't have quite enough to beat Greene County on Friday and fell 12-11.

Prairie City-Monroe pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Nevada, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Prairie City-Monroe suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Nevada in their previous matchup on June 2nd. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
