Baseball Game Preview: Leavitt Hornets vs. Morse Shipbuilders

For the second straight game, Leavitt will face off against Morse. The Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Shipbuilders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Leavitt didn't have quite enough to beat Morse and fell 10-8. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Morse's part, the team relied heavily on Edward Delano, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Caden Wells was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Morse was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leavitt only posted a batting average of .200.

The win was the fifth in a row for Morse, bringing their record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Leavitt, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Leavitt has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Morse struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts.
