Softball Recap: Hickory Ridge Beats Corinth Holders for Their Sixth Straight Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hickory Ridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Corinth Holders Pirates 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Ragin' Bulls sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Embler Kristyn made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Katherine Rhyne was excellent, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.

Hickory Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Corinth Holders, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory Ridge will take on Lake Norman at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Corinth Holders, they will venture away from home to challenge Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
