Preview: First Baptist Christian Eagles vs. Brighton Bengals
First Baptist Christian and Brighton are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The First Baptist Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Brighton Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only 18 points in their last match, First Baptist Christian made sure to put some points up on the board against Legacy Christian Academy on Tuesday. First Baptist Christian blew past Legacy Christian Academy, posting a 56-22 victory at home. The result was nothing new for First Baptist Christian, who have now won four games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Brighton was able to grind out a solid win over Christian Academy of Louisiana on Tuesday, taking the game 48-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Brighton.
Brighton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davis Wolfe, who scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Wolfe. Damon Scott was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.
First Baptist Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Brighton, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
First Baptist Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Brighton when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 55-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for First Baptist Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
