Volleyball Recap: Point Pleasant's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Point Pleasant lost against St. Albans back in September of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Big Blacks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Dragons. The loss put an end to the Big Blacks' undefeated start to the season.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-18.

Ava Riffle paced Point Pleasant's offense, picking up three kills. Riffle got some help from Abby Woodall and her six assists. Lyndee Taylor controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Albans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ellah Smith, who had five kills, four digs, and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Smith a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Point Pleasant fell to 2-1. As for St. Albans, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Point Pleasant wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Scott on the 26th. As for St. Albans, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Huntington on the 26th.
