Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. Atholton Raiders
The Hammond Golden Bears put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 46-25 margin over Atholton. With Hammond ahead 30-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Nia Green was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven steals and five assists. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Yarnell, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Hammond's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Atholton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Reservoir at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Reservoir is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Atholton, they will head out on the road to face off against Long Reach at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Long Reach has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 6.
