Baseball Recap: Welsh Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Welsh hadn't done well against Kaplan recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Greyhounds walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Pirates. The win was some much needed relief for the Greyhounds as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Welsh let Grant Haydel and Noah Menard run wild. Haydel got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Menard went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Haydel has become a key player for Welsh: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Liam Bryant also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Kaplan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Welsh will host Washington-Marion at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kaplan, they will head out to square off against Iota at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
