With a playoff game on the line, Cherokee rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals. Winning may never get old, but the Braves sure are getting used to it with their 20th in a row.
Cherokee took Cornerstone Charter into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 16-25, 18-25, 15-11.
Loss or not, Cornerstone Charter got some senior leadership from Cassie Causey and Sophia Chandler. Causey had eight digs and 23 assists, while Chandler had seven digs and 21 assists. With that strong performance, Chandler is now averaging an impressive 12.3 assists per game.
Cherokee pushed their record up to 25-1 with the victory, which was their 29th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cornerstone Charter, they moved to 26-3 with that defeat, which also ended their 22-game winning streak.
