Volleyball Recap: Pitman Takes a Loss

Pitman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ripon Indians. While the Pride didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 25-18 in the first set.

Pitman started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-14, 15-13.

Maryn Hall paced Pitman's offense, picking up 20 kills. Hall got some help from Izabella Ziencina and her 40 assists. Kayliyah Williams controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Among those leading the charge was Kennedy Everhart, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Pitman's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Ripon, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Pitman and Ripon should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Pride (ranked 100th) will meet Downey (ranked 243rd) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ripon will challenge Orestimba at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (59 vs. 955).
