Volleyball Recap: Hendersonville Comes Up Short

Hendersonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pope John Paul II Knights. The Commandos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hendersonville sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 21-25, 25-10, 17-25, 15-13.

Rose Minor paced Hendersonville's offense, picking up eight kills. Minor got some help from Chloe Combs and her 23 assists. Camilla Embrey and Claire Rogers kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Hendersonville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Pope John Paul II, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3.

Hendersonville has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Beech on the 2nd. As for Pope John Paul II, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harpeth Hall at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season.
