Basketball Game Preview: La Grange Leopards vs. Giddings Buffaloes

La Grange is 9-1 against Giddings since December of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The La Grange Leopards will head out to face off against the Giddings Buffaloes at 6:15 p.m. La Grange is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.

Last Friday, La Grange blew past Bellville, posting a 77-36 victory. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Brahmas are ranked 1129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Grange's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Campbell Cooper Sg 2027 led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Cooper Sg 2027's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kylie Trlicek, who posted 19 points along with six boards and four steals.

La Grange smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Giddings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 59-50 to Smithville.

La Grange is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Giddings, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-22.

Everything came up roses for La Grange against Giddings when the teams last played on January 10th, as the squad secured a 79-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Grange since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
