Baseball Recap: Pomona Extends Winning Streak to Four

Pomona won the last time they faced La Puente and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pomona Red Devils were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over the La Puente Warriors. Considering the Red Devils have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Vince Huguez's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pomona got a big performance out of Ivan Lopez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Victor Tlatenchi, who scored a run and stole a base.

The win (which was Pomona's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for La Puente, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pomona will host Edgewood at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pomona's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Edgewood's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for La Puente, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Workman at 3:30 p.m. La Puente is facing Workman at the right time seeing as Workman is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
