Softball Recap: Baldwin Triumphs

Baldwin posted their closest victory since March 27th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Middleburg Broncos 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won three in a row.

Lilly Hubbard made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazmine Ramos-Merced, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maddie Crews, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Baldwin's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Middleburg, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Baldwin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Middleburg, they will challenge Wakulla at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 3.8, the War Eagles 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
