Basketball Recap: Northeast Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Arland Davis and Hayes Hatcher

Northeast Academy lost against Lawrence Academy on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Northeast Academy Eagles took a 67-52 bruising from the Lawrence Academy Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Warriors are ranked 151st).

Northeast Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Hayes Hatcher and Arland Davis. Hatcher dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Davis posted 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. Davis has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played.

Lawrence Academy found their leader in sophomore Jaslene Etheridge, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Camy Pippins was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and eight steals.

Northeast Academy is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6. As for Lawrence Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

Northeast Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-37 defeat against Ridgecroft on the 28th. Lawrence Academy has also already played their next match, a 58-51 victory against Pungo Christian Academy on the 29th.
