Baseball Recap: KIPP King Takes a Loss

KIPP King fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Mt. Diablo on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 14-13.

Gabriel Acevedo stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Johnny Munoz was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

KIPP King's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Mt. Diablo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

The future could be bright for both KIPP King and Mt. Diablo: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Lions will look to extend Aspire Richmond Ca.
