Football Game Preview: Bryan Bears vs. Columbus Discoverers

The Bryan Bears will head out to challenge the Columbus Discoverers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bryan has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight losses, while Columbus will come in with three straight wins.

Bryan's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Millard North on Thursday. They took a blow against the Mustangs, falling 56-0. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Mustangs are ranked 40th).

Columbus hadn't beaten North Platte on the road since September 6, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Discoverers really took it to the Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-6 victory. With the Discoverers ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Columbus' win came from a few key players Bryan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Michael Voichoskie, who rushed for 105 yards and one TD. Omar Rozikov was in the mix too, providing Columbus with two scores.

Columbus was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Bryan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Columbus, their record is now 4-1.

Bryan was taken down by Columbus 49-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
