Baseball Recap: West Park Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for West Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Downey Knights on Friday as the West Park Panthers made off with a 13-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

David Ortez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).

On the hitting side, Ayden Deome was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christopher Fisher, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

West Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Downey only posted an OBP of .318.

The victory got West Park back to even at 1-1. As for Downey, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, West Park will venture away from home to face off against Oakmont at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Downey, they will take on East Union in a tournament on Friday.
