Basketball Game Preview: Kouts Mustangs & Fillies vs. Morgan Township Cherokees

The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies will venture away from home to take on the Morgan Township Cherokees at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Kouts earned a 52-41 win over DeMotte Christian. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs & Fillies 's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Knights are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Morgan Township ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against South Central by a score of 57-45. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Cherokees considering their 23-point performance the matchup before.

Morgan Township's win came from a few key players Kouts will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josie Lemmons, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 19 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Wasz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 boards.

Morgan Township has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Kouts, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Kouts came up short against Morgan Township when the teams last played back in February, falling 28-24. Can Kouts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
