Softball Recap: La Quinta Wins Going Away Against Estancia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rio Hondo Prep, La Quinta was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Estancia Eagles 16-4. The win continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.

Julainy Castanon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, La Quinta got a massive performance out of Ella Magga, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Magga a new career-high. Kailey Huynh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

La Quinta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

La Quinta's record now sits at 7-11. As for Estancia, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Coming up, La Quinta will head out to face off against Santa Ana Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Aztecs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season. As for Estancia, they will welcome University at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
