Soccer Game Preview: Rainier Beach vs. Lakeside

Rainier Beach hasn't had much luck against Lakeside recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will challenge the Lions at 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Rainier Beach's offense. They fell 2-0 to O'Dea on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Lakeside came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Eagles a 7-0 shutout. Given Lakeside's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Cleveland are ranked 243rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakeside's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Rainier Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Rainier Beach suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lakeside in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
