Softball Recap: Dixon Takes a Loss

Dixon fell victim to Stillman Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The Dukes & Duchesses have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Allie Abell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Dixon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Stillman Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Dixon is set to face off against their familiar foe Oregon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stillman Valley will challenge rival North Boone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
