Recap: Springfield Southeast Spartans vs. Normal University Pioneers
The Springfield Southeast Spartans lost against the Normal University Pioneers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Springfield Southeast fell to Normal University 34-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Springfield Southeast has scored all season.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marisa Gant, who scored 13 points. Chloe Crawford was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Springfield Southeast has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Normal University, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-18 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield Southeast will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Springfield will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Normal University, they will head out on the road to challenge Decatur Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Eisenhower is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
