Softball Recap: Highland Comes Up Short

Highland had lost 12 straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-22 to make it 13. They lost 35-2 to the Valencia Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on April 10th.

As for Valencia, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Valencia's part, they got a massive performance out of Rosalyn Rael, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. Those five runs gave Rael a new career-high. Cambria Garley was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with eight stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Highland will challenge rival St. Pius X at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Valencia is set to square off against their familiar foe Belen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
