Basketball Game Preview: Spartanburg Day Griffins vs. Gaston Day Spartans + How To Watch

The Spartanburg Day Griffins are taking a road trip to take on the Gaston Day Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Spartanburg Day was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Palmetto Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Griffins blew past Palmetto Christian Academy 73-16. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Griffins considering their 24-point performance the game before.

Spartanburg Day got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Katelyn Bopp out in front who went 8-for-13 on her way to 21 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Matz, who shot 59% from the field en route to 20 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Gaston Day strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took down Carmel Christian 47-33. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Gaston Day's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Spartanburg Day, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Spartanburg Day beat Gaston Day 65-57 in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. Do the Griffins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
