Basketball Recap: Bradford Piles Up the Points Against Baldwin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bradford). They took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 72-43 win over the Baldwin Indians. Given the Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Indians are ranked 740th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bradford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maliki Cobarris out in front who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. Cobarris also put up a block, which washis first of the season. Jordan Cason was another key player, going 8 for 10 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Baldwin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nikeese Doss dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 boards. Those 20 rebounds gave Doss a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Screws, who posted nine points.

The win (which was Bradford's fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. As for Baldwin, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Bradford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-44 victory against Baker County on the 11th. Baldwin has also already played their next game, a 47-34 win against Middleburg on the 14th.
