Baseball Recap: Medway Sets Scoring Season-High Against Medfield

Medway barely beat Medfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 13-3 win on Thursday. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Trevor Smith, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matt Wilde, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Medway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Medway's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Medfield, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Medway is set to face off against their familiar foe Bellingham at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Mustangs' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Blackhawks have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Medfield will square off against rival Norton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
