Football Recap: Asheville School (Independent) Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Marvyn Larozar and Shiloh Mukendi

Asheville School (Independent) was the 36-31 winner over High Point Christian Academy when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Blues fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 24-21 on Friday.

Despite the loss, Asheville School (Independent) had strong showings from Shiloh Mukendi, who rushed for 107 yards on only eight carries, and Marvyn Larozar, who rushed for 57 yards and one score on only eight carries. Larozar also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making two total tackles.

Asheville School (Independent) didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Mukendi picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. Asheville School (Independent) received some extra help from Larozar, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

It was another big night for Jaylen Moore, who rushed for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry for High Point Christian Academy. Moore's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 17th straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Asheville School (Independent)'s defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-1. As for High Point Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

As for High Point Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 61-6 win against South Wake on the 17th.
