Holy Cross takes loss despite strong efforts from Mona Okorie and Kyara Champagne

Recap: Holy Cross Knights vs. St. Francis Prep Terriers

The Holy Cross Knights pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-55 to St. Francis Prep. If Holy Cross hoped to take revenge for the 63-49 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Kyara Champagne and Mona Okorie certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Champagne scored 28 points along with three steals, while Okorie scored eight points along with 17 rebounds and four steals. Okorie is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Davneiro, who scored 12 points along with eight assists.

Holy Cross has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for St. Francis Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will take on St. Anthony's at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (St. Anthony's is ranked 79th, while Holy Cross is ranked 83rd). As for St. Francis Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Mary Louis Academy at 6:00 p.m. Mary Louis Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 436 points over their last seven contests.
