Softball Recap: Northridge Vikings vs. Lakewood Lancers
Northridge extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They lost 17-6 to the Lakewood Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
Kaylee Goodwin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.
As for Lakewood, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
On Lakewood's side, they got a massive performance out of Cora Redman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Carly Williams was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Northridge will take on Millersport at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lakers have averaged an impressive 12.9 runs per game this season. As for Lakewood, they will face off against Licking Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
