Hoggard and Topsail are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Vikings will host the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Hoggard took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Ashley with a sharp 12-3 win. The Vikings not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 14-1).

Macey Ciamillo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sophie Gee was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs and two stolen bases. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
Hoggard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Topsail waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Swansboro.
Like Hoggard, Topsail also got a great game from a two-way player: Madyson Turlington. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Turlington was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Beatty, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Emma Rose was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
Topsail pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Hoggard, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8.
Hoggard was able to grind out a solid win over Topsail in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-0. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
