Baseball Recap: Hesperia's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Hesperia never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Eastside on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Lions. Considering the Scorpions have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dru Lona made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Brenden Ozaki looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cameron Cole, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Flores, who went 3-for-4 with one home run.

Hesperia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hesperia's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-12. As for Eastside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19-1 record this season.

Hesperia will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Crossroads at 3:15 p.m. on the 16th. The Scorpions will need to watch out since the Roadrunners have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. Eastside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
