Softball Recap: Albert Lea Has No Trouble Against Faribault

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Albert Lea and Faribault, and Albert Lea kept the tradition alive. The Tigers put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 8-1 win on Tuesday. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 7-2 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Taylor Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiera Erickson, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Nevaeh Wachols was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Albert Lea's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Faribault, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Albert Lea beat the Falcons by a score of 10-0 later that day.
