Highland came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Evergreen Christian Eagles 54-39. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Eagles back in December of 2024, they had to take a 58-43 loss.

Evergreen Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayden Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Johnson has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Wivell, who posted five points.

Highland pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Evergreen Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Highland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-27 win against Randolph-Macon Academy on the 24th. Evergreen Christian has also already played their next match, a 63-32 loss against Non Varsity Opponent on the 25th.
