Baseball Recap: Mortimer Jordan Comes Up Short

Mortimer Jordan fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Orange Beach on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Makos by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Blue Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mortimer Jordan got a good showing from Jeremiah Tingle, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Tingle also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mortimer Jordan is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Justin Lyons was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Mortimer Jordan now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Orange Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Mortimer Jordan will take on Har-Ber in a tournament on Monday. As for Orange Beach, they will welcome Jasper at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
