The Cardinal Spellman Pilots will square off against the Monsignor McClancy Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cardinal Spellman is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Maria Regina by a score of 14-10 last Wednesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 12, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Danielle Sanchez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Cardinal Spellman let Camila Uribe and Mia Paulino run wild. Uribe scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances, while Paulino went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those stolen bases were Uribe's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Migoni Cortes, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Monsignor McClancy was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out St. Francis Prep 4-3. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by just one run.
The team relied heavily on Alison Toribio, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Sabina Franzese was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Monsignor McClancy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Cardinal Spellman's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Monsignor McClancy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Monsignor McClancy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cardinal Spellman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. It's a different story for Monsignor McClancy, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain Cardinal Spellman's hitters?
