Recap: Gunderson Grizzlies vs. Del Mar Dons

The Gunderson Grizzlies were the 31-20 winner over the Del Mar Dons when they last played one another back in October of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Gunderson took a 39-25 bruising from Del Mar on Thursday.

Gunderson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Fernandez, who threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Terreon Hunt, who picked up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

It was another big night for Andre Latimore, who rushed for 267 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Latimore hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games. Bradley Tavish was another key contributor, rushing for 157 yards.

Gunderson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Del Mar, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gunderson will take on Yerba Buena at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Yerba Buena has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 26. As for Del Mar, they will head out on the road to face off against Prospect at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Prospect has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 229 points over their last five matches.
