Softball Game Preview: Upper Darby Royals vs. Chichester Eagles

The Upper Darby Royals will head out on the road to square off against the Chichester Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Upper Darby needed a bit of extra time to put away Lower Merion. They won by a run and slipped past the Aces 4-3. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Aces recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Paige Ryan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Kaela Squilla-Williams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Hoyt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

Chichester played against Academy Park on Thursday and won via forfeit.

Chichester's record now sits at 11-7. As for Upper Darby, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-12.

Upper Darby suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Chichester in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
