Baseball Recap: Loveland Finds Home Field Redemption Against Poudre

There's no place like home for Loveland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Poudre Impalas on Thursday as Loveland made off with an 8-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Red Wolves: when they faced off against the Impalas last Tuesday, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Cole Underwood made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Loveland is 2-1 when Underwood allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Underwood was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Will Dunbar and Wes Bockelmann did most of the damage at the plate: Dunbar scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Bockelmann scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave Dunbar a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Wenger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Loveland's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Poudre, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loveland will face off against Brighton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Brighton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.83 runs per game on average), something Loveland will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Poudre, they will square off against Highlands Ranch at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
