Softball Recap: Swansboro Takes a Loss

While it was Swansboro who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was East Carteret who put up more. The Swansboro Pirates fell 18-13 to the East Carteret Mariners. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mariners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Payton Jensen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Katherine Cahall, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Jensen wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Swansboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Swansboro's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Swansboro has already played their next contest, a 13-11 loss against New Bern on the 28th. As for East Carteret, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-7 victory against White Oak on the 28th.
