Basketball Recap: Central Rebels vs. MICDS Rams
It was a good run, but the Central Rebels unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to MICDS. The matchup was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but Central couldn't quite close it out.
When it comes to explaining why Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jobe Bryant. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with seven rebounds. Bryant is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Casey, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Central's loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-3. As for MICDS, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Arcadia Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Rebels are ranked 33rd). As for MICDS, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mater Dei focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Tuesday.
