Basketball Recap: Escambia Falls Despite Big Games from Tae Gaston and David Dodson

Escambia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 70-48 to the Booker T. Washington Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-42 back in November of 2024.

Escambia's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of David Dodson, who made all 6 shots he took racking up 19 points and three steals, and Tae Gaston, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and five blocks. Those three steals gave Dodson a new career-high. Andre Umali was another key player, putting up six points.

Escambia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Booker T. Washington, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Escambia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-40 victory against West Florida on the 14th. Booker T. Washington has also already played their next contest, a 44-34 win against Pine Forest on the 10th.
