Softball Game Preview: South Cameron Tarpons vs. Hackberry Mustangs

South Cameron is 1-8 against Hackberry since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tarpons will venture away from home to take on the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. South Cameron has given up an average of 16 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Cameron couldn't beat Starks on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Tarpons fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-10.

Hackberry never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Washington-Marion on Monday. They blew past the Charging Indians 18-3.

Hackberry's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for South Cameron, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

South Cameron couldn't quite finish off Hackberry in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 and fell 15-13. Can the Tarpons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
