Softball Recap: Hughesville Drops Season-High Score on Bloomsburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hughesville). They put the hurt on the Bloomsburg Panthers with a sharp 19-1 win on Friday. Considering the Spartans have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Henninger and Ella Breneisen made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Henninger tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Breneisen tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Henninger went 2-for-3 with three runs, while Breneisen went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Henninger a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Barlett was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Adelyn Knight was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Hughesville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in three consecutive games.

Hughesville's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-4. As for Bloomsburg, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coincidentally, Hughesville and Bloomsburg will both be playing Southern Columbia Area the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Spartans will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
