Football Recap: Deridder Finds Home Field Redemption Against Westlake + How To Watch

There's no place like home for DeRidder, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They secured a 24-20 W over the Westlake Rams on Friday. This was payback for the Dragons, who suffered a 42-28 loss the last time these two teams met.

The critical scores for DeRidder came from Jayden Merriwether, John Lesaux, and Michael Parmley.

DeRidder was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 203 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Despite the loss, Westlake still got an impressive performance from Brody Anderson, who rushed for 133 yards and three scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 101 yards on eight of 18 attempts. Anderson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.

The victory got DeRidder back to even at 2-2. As for Westlake, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. DeRidder will head out to take on Jennings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westlake, they will venture away from home to face off against Erath at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Rams 10.5, the Bobcats 14.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
