Basketball Recap: Tipton Triumphs

Tipton extended their postseason success on Saturday against Frankton. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 43-42 win over the Frankton Eagles. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Tipton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grady Carpenter, who posted 18 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Carpenter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Grayson McFalls, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Loss or not, Frankton got some senior leadership from Joey Wright and Brady Carmack. Wright scored 19 points, while Carmack earned 14 points and six rebounds. Wright continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played.

Tipton's record is now 19-6. As for Frankton, with the defeat, they broke their 13-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-9.

Looking ahead, Tipton will square off against Manchester at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Manchester knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matches -- so hopefully Tipton likes a good challenge. Frankton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
