Baseball Game Preview: Clearview Pioneers vs. Gloucester Catholic Rams

Clearview is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Gloucester Catholic is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pioneers will host the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Clearview 3.7, Gloucester Catholic 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Clearview came up short against Kingsway and fell 6-3.

Meanwhile, Gloucester Catholic got the win against Williamstown on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Rams have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brody Gates made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gates was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Henry Pancoast and Jude Morgan did most of the damage at the plate: Pancoast went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Morgan went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Morgan a new career-high. Jason Bogart was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Gloucester Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Clearview's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Gloucester Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 15-0.
