Softball Recap: Patrick Henry Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Patrick Henry dropped their record down to 12-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 7-0 to the Bryan Golden Bears. The game marked the first time this season in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

As for Bryan, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Bryan's part, Thea Staten was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. Staten has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Ruffer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Averyann Fisher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Patrick Henry wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-0 victory against Evergreen on the 24th. As for Bryan, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-1 win against Napoleon on the 22nd.
